Happy Family

The Happy Family paintings carry a gentle surprise: the families are often poultry, a hen, a rooster and their chicks in tropical light. The allegory is plain and warm. Family, in these canvases, is not a portrait subject but a condition of contentment, painted through the small domestic life of the kampung yard. (Verify against final plates; adjust if some canvases in the series show human families.)
