Golden Hour · shares its pigment with Penang & harbour

The heritage architecture of the north gives the work its sense of built memory: temples, riverbanks and old towns. The Malacca river bank and the Ayer Itam temple stand among these, places whose worn walls and ramshackle waterfronts he painted as they were.

Sharing its pigment with the Penang and harbour works, this strand is preservation in the plainest sense, a record of buildings and streets that redevelopment was already beginning to remove.
