Padi Sage

Birds, flowers and the small life of the countryside form a quieter strand: sparrows and doves, fighting cockerels, pigeons among the branches of a rambutan tree. The 1981 feature records that one such canvas of pigeons took seven or eight preliminary studies before he was satisfied.

These are studies of attention as much as of subject, of looking closely at what is easily passed over.
